A BASIX certificate is the NSW Government's measure of how sustainable a new home or major renovation is, across water, thermal comfort and energy. You cannot lodge a development application for most new dwellings, or renovations over $50,000, without one.
The certificate sets binding commitments: the glazing, insulation, fixtures and systems your build must include. Those commitments then have to appear on your plans and specifications, which is where many projects come unstuck. If the drawings and the certificate disagree, the certifier will query it.
The fix is to assess early and map the commitments straight onto the drawings. We issue every BASIX certificate with a commitments schedule keyed to your plans, and we include a revision so a design change does not mean starting again.
